A Poem To My Children On PermissivenessFrom babes you have grown, in innocence you've come To us, your loving parents, to guide you in the Son. Now children, we love you, so sometimes we say "No!" You may feel not understood when stopped along life's flow. So here's a little story of chidren left to choose And make their own decisions. Then life did sing the blues. There was a pretty maiden of twelve years or so, Decided whe was grown enough to do and to know. She started wearing makeup which made her look so fine. Some boys that noticed her would like to pluck her vine. To take from her that virtue that made her feel so whole, And leave a seed of destiny within this child to grow. She found a special boy friend, one she could tell it all. They shared their inner feelings. At thirteen, lust did call. From ther both children played at life with full sincerity. And yet there were some points of life that needed clarity. Nine months went by. Where was this boy that promised everything? where was this perfect union within eternal spring? What happened to those feelings of innocence in life? A child is born unto a child, not ready to be wife. And where is he this lover, this boy of fatherhood? Will he be there to help you with your babe like he should? To help earn the money to provide you daily bread? For boys don't have the tools to feed and clothe and wed. So children, when we tell you, "No makeup till you're grown." "Be in by ten. Don't play with friends when parents are not home," It's not that we don't trust you, the world's a cruel place, With many hurt-filled lessions along life's flowing race. |
