Pancho Villa

Pancho Villa

A child was born in poverty, amid cruelty and greed.
He saw a place where hope was lost, his family lived in need,
Where rich and powerful landowners preyed upon the poor;
Families treated more like slaves, to clean greed's soiled floor.

When other children lost all hope, young Pancho's anger grew.
He learned to ride and shoot a gun. His aim was quick and true.
One day he found his sister raped by his rich land lord.
His anger was more than words. He struck like a sword.

Pancho killed this rich man, which was against the rule.
The rich could do what they chose. The poor were but their tool
To do all the dirty work, and stay where they belong.
When a poor man hurt the rich, death was quick and strong.

Young Pancho had to run away against the winds of fate,
To become an outlaw he took the rich man's stake.
He grew to be a leader of other forlorn men.
He became a legend, a Robin Hood, a friend.

Pancho never forgot his friends or poor family.
He gave part of what he stole unto humanity.
The poor called him a hero, the rich called him a thief.
And some were in between the two. Pancho felt life's grief.

God, many times will use a man to humble those in power.
Pancho Villa was such a man, His courage found it's hour.
From outlaw to patriot was his honored call,
Amid a rich bureaucracy where power's greed touched all.

Pancho's revenge burned like fire. He too felt hate's dark power.
He turned his hate upon the rich, and anger ruled his hour.
He fought and bled upon life's field for poor souls to be free.
Pancho Villa's force was felt within humanity.

Some call him a butcher, some call him a saint.
I believe he was a man, from life's lessons he gained strenght.
His anger like some of old, was used to curse the proud.
I, myself, can't judge him within life's flowing crowd.

When I think of Pancho Villa, I feel for his great love.
I understand his anger against the rich man's blood.
For when men of power mistreat the poor and meek,
Someone like Pancho Villa will fight for the weak.
