Around the time that Jesus the Christ lived and walked, the Romans built resorts near Jerusalem. Their ports and resorts had many mosaics with many sky & sea scenes in them. A common product used in making these blue areas was created by making glass into small square pieces. Time, storms & erosion, etc, took their tole. Through the years, these resort ports were slowly ground down leaving round tear-drops of glass, shaped by ocean waves and sand.
