The above Sculpture is a 3ft 2in wide by 5ft high, 2 sided sculpture called " Mary" and is sold with the accompanying poem "Mary".
Dedicated to the example of the mother of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.
The top center two-dimensional cameo, centered within the star of David, which represents Christ's lineage, is my attempt to capture the personality of Mary. This meditative person is one who took deeply all the important spiritual experiences of a tremendously difficult and challenging life. Six pictures depicting some of her more memorable experiences within the circle of the star of David:
1. Mary's messenger from the Father.
2. Christ's birth.
3. The Christ child at the temple as Mary comes to claim Him.
4. The wedding when Mary had Jesus change water to wine.
5. The raising of Lazarus from the dead.
6. After Jesus Christ's resurrection, when he appeared first to Mary Magdalene and other women.
The two aluminum faces hanging at each side and facing both directions represent Mary's balance of life's joys and sorrows.
The rainbow suspenders suspending life's joys and sorrows and the circular rainbow represent our Father in Heaven's wonderful, much colored universe, and all the myriad colors of life which is our Father's living gift to all humankind.
The black square represents most of humanity living in spiritual darkness. The white tips of the square and white heart represent those souls striving to walk in the light of Christ.
One of the most important eternal truths I have learned came to me through this holy virgin mother's example. I believe this truth is what separates the spiritual person from the natural person. St. Luke 2:19: "But Mary kept these things and pondered them in her heart." To me, the difference between the spiritual person and the natural person is how one thinks. Everyone has special experiences and inspired thoughts. The person that ponders and writes down these special gifts and holds them in their heart will be eternally better for doing so.
Mary and Jesus were eternally bonded together through the mother-son relationship. What one person feels, who truly loves another, for the other's pain and sorrow or joy and happiness, words and human science cannot explain.
The painting of Jesus with this crown of 40 thorns represents the many victories and sorrows of our Lord's short life in mortality. Where the two heads come together, by their hair joining as one, represents the total oneness of Christ and Mary's love.
