Foreclosure

Blue Child

Blue child, blue child, what you gonna do child?
Blue child, blue child, what you gonna do?
I saw your mama shootin' up, your papa gettin' down.
And through false and poisoned highs, your freedom has been bound.
Yes, mama needs to find a way and papa needs one too.
So they can see again to care and love a child like you.
Blue child, blue child, what you gonna do, child?
Blue child, blue child, what you gonna do?

New child, new child, love is comin' through, child.
New child, new child, Mom and Dad love you.
I saw a baby laughin', laughin' in the sun.
I saw a baby playing', playing', havin' fun.
Mama's watchin' carefully and Papa loves you too.
And you live in eternal spring, with kindness sewn through.
New child, new child, love is comin' through, child.
New child, new child, Mom and Dad love you.
Grandma loves you too. Grandpa loves you too.

Hungry child, sick child, what we gonna do ,child?
Lost child, cold child, what we gonna do?
I saw a baby starvin' from want and lack of bread.
Mama's tears were all dried up and Papa, he was dead.
And in this humbled mother's cries, I heard myself to say,
"Someone else can help. I'm too busy today. I'm too busy today."
Hungry child, sick child, what we gonna do, child?
Lost child, cold child, what we gonna do?

The above 2-sided painting/sculpture is 3ft wide by 4ft high (two-dimensional), called "Foreclosure" and is sold with the accompanying poem "Blue Child".

The mother and child represent all lost and forgotten souls of humanity, who some ignore, and others take advantage of. The vine grows out of the starving baby's belly across the Mom, where a thorn pierces her side. This thorn represents the deepest despair a mother can feel when she is powerless to help her sick, cold, hurt or starving child.
The blood drips down the canvas from the thorn in the Mom's side in two directions. One leads to and drips upon a head titled, "I can't", for all of us capable of doing something to help, but using "I can't" as an excuse. The other drops of blood lead to the word "Inhumanity". Whenever someone has the power to help another and doesn't, sin lies at the door.
The farm is dark and deserted to represent all life farmers displaced by people in power over them. When, with a little help, their life-style might have been preserved, and thus, this would increase our world's food source.
The stormy day represents the storms of life all humankind pass through. The three birds stand for the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, who witness against all indifference and all other types of inhumanity.
The other side of the sculpture is surrounded by rainbow colors symbolizing the promise to humankind of life eternal through obedience to the laws of love. Within the rainbow where the stick enters the baby's belly and comes through the canvas is a boil spilling polluted blood down the canvas. This represents the boil upon the soul of humanity. The words sculpted in this side are some of the main reasons for humanity's boil: "What we do with the homeless, widows, & orphans, determines our place in eternity."
