Rainbow Warrior

Sculpture shown below comes with the poem "Rainbow Warrior" quoted at the bottom:

Rainbow Warrior

Rainbow Warrior
His foes are all beneath Him, and countless are His days.
His bow is armed with justice and mercy as He slays
The cruel and selfish mortals who refuse to learn of love.
For all glory is the Son's truth, and has touched Him like a dove.

Now some people feel they have the right to treat life carelessly,
As they crush sacred forests; as they poison earth and sea.
With every thoughtless action comes pollution's earth and air.
When we're careless to God's footstool, then our earth gives us what's fair.

Now the whims of human vanity are the curse of most life's strife.
For without Christ's true compassion, none could find eternal life.
Look to Christ's pure example and truth will guide your way,
Through pure light, the Rainbow Warrior can light our darkest day.

"Rainbow Warrior" is 8 ft. 6 in.high by 5 ft. wide. This sculpture is made from recycled wood, wire, plastic, placo, etc. Christ's hair is made of plastic fishing line, which I, as an artist, consider appropriate since Christ said, "I will make you fishers of men." When most artists paint Christ, they depict Him light-skinned with reddish-brown hair. In my opinion, the Jewish people are not white, but between black and white. Christ was a man of the earth. He lived under the sun and moon. His face was burned dark by hot summer days. His features were shaped course through the seasons spoken of in the four gospels. "The Son of Man hath not where to lay his head." I imagine Jesus Christ the way this sculpture depicts.

On the base are four plaques:

1. "As ye have done it unto the least." This front view shows a young lion under Christ's left hand, a black sheep under his right hand. The lion and the lamb represent the peace that waits all humankind and life itself during the millennium. The black sheep represents all the lost and fallen souls who have found or will find eternal life through Christ. The flowers represent all the green life of our beautiful world. The baby represents all the little children of our world. Yet "ye become more like this little child", meek, teachable, loving, and kind, "you cannot enter the Kingdom of God." The blue bird represents true happiness and joy that can only come through service to others. The fish represents all other forms of life upon this earth. When Heavenly Father created this wonderful planet, He gave us dominion over all life and made us masters over each and every life form. I believe the way each treats life determines his or her place in eternity. In other words, when I waste any of our Father in Heaven's precious living things from the great whale to a delicate hummingbird, I believe our Father in Heaven is not pleased, and such acts, when not reprented of, are recorded on the memory banks of our souls to be played back upon our individual judgement days. As the statue turns right, this reminds me to make my choices right.

2. The second plaque reads, "Jesus the Christ loves all colors" for "God is no respector of persons." This means Heavenly Father loves all races of people the same. Again, Christ came not from the white or black race, but the central color of the Jews.

3. The sculpture turns to the 3rd plaque, "If you love me, keep my laws."

4. The 4th plaque: "Friendship, the sacred voyage within the heart of another" and then back to the front. Notice the rainbow and circle that Christ is centered and encompassed in. thus the title of the sculpting:
"Rainbow Warrior".
